Trained Involved Teens Assisting Non-Profits
The purpose of Project TITAN is to link youth volunteers with non-profit or public organizations by giving teenagers an opportunity to serve as board members for these community organizations. Youth are matched with a non-profit organization that has a mission statement compatible with his/her interests. Youth board members will be voting members of boards (unless there is a reason that prohibits this). Students will receive an adult mentor from the board on which they serve. The mentor will help make the youth’s time on the board as productive and enjoyable as possible. Youth can be paired up in teams to serve on boards, if they feel more comfortable doing so.
Benefits of Project TITAN for Teens:
• Teens can serve as role models for their peers.
• Involving teens supports them in gaining a wide range of skills and developing confidence in opinions and ideas.
