Our local Municipal, County and District courts know they can count on YouthZone to change lives. We work to provide court-related programming that keeps kids out of detention and on the path to success. Included in YouthZone’s court services are:
Court Assessment
Youth assessment, recommendation to the court, overseeing of court ordered requirements, exit interview with the family, final report to the court. (Municipal and County courts)
Deferred Sentencing
Intervention services to youth with a final outcome of having the charges against the youth dismissed. (Municipal and County courts)
Diversion
Designed to prevent first time and low-level juvenile offenders from entering the Juvenile Justice System. (District court)
Case Management
On-going monitoring of and assistance to a young person as he/she works on completing his/her personal program at any court level.
SB-94 Services
Screening, case management and tracking services which serve as an alternative to detention. (District court).
Useful Public Service
An orientation course on what is useful public service, case management of a youth’s hours and a written report to the court. (Municipal, County, District courts)
Saturday Service
A supervised weekend work program that serves as an alternative to detention. (Probation level youth at District court)
The average cost for commitment of a youth offender to a juvenile corrections center is around $58,000 a year*. At YouthZone the average cost of assisting young offenders is approximately $1,000 for a 6 month program.
On average,75% of youth who participate in YouthZone court programming will not re-offend while a juvenile.
