YouthZone founded and serves on the Community Evaluation Team (CET), a partnership between local agencies designed to ensure comprehensive plans for individuals requiring extended community services. All family participation is voluntary. The CET would be effective in the following situations:
• Family conflicts which cannot be resolved within the family.
• Family conflicts which have not improved despite continued family services.
• Abuse/neglect cases, substance abuse situations or legal issues involving a child.
• A situation where a child is at risk for out-of-home placement due to delinquency or out-of-control behavior.
• A situation where a child is at risk for school suspension.
The Community Evaluation Team (CET) meets with families to discuss their concerns and identify possible supportive services. The team provides each family with a written recommendation noting an appropriate family plan of action. In all situations, the CET recommendations are in the best interest of the child. The CET also outlines available local resources, which can be of assistance. The CET has funds available that can be used to help cover the cost of supportive services, such as counseling, tutoring, respite care, etc. To receive such funding, specific criteria must be met.
